While usually considered a cosmetic procedure, in some cases smile design may also be the best method for restoring the health of a smile that has been weakened or damaged by tooth decay. Dental bridges, for example, are used to fill in gaps created by one or more missing teeth. In addition to creating a more agreeable smile, however, dental bridges can be used to restore structural integrity to the surrounding teeth, reduce the risk of gum disease, and create better occlusion (the way the teeth on the upper and lower jaw fit together).
Dental crown placement is another way to achieve a smile that is both beautiful and healthy. Crowns can be used to conceal chips and stains in the enamel of teeth, of course, but they can also strengthen damaged teeth or improve a patient's bite.

This is much more convenient than attending the multiple appointments previously required by traditional dental crown procedures. To design customized dental bridges with unparalleled precision and accuracy, Dr. Liu uses the Nobel Biocare® system to create a 3D image of the mouth. Using these detailed images, he is able to construct Procera® AllCeram cosmetic bridges – comfortable and guaranteed to contain none of the metals or alloys that sometimes discolor teeth.
